Funeral Services for Mrs. Wanda Lois Cross, age 85, of Livingston will be conducted 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Lynn Bullock will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lois passed from this life on Sunday afternoon from the Cottages in Overton County. She was born in Overton County, Tennessee on September 18, 1938, to the late Thomas Buren and Bess Deck Hargis. A 1957 graduate of Livingston Academy and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church. Lois worked in cosmetology for many years. She enjoyed making wonderful works of art with her needle and thread. She served on the Overton County Fair Board since the 1980's and recently became an honorary member of the Overton County Fair Board. She was Mrs. Senior Overton County in 1999 and enjoyed representing Overton County at State.
Lois leaves behind her sons, David Edward "Butch" Cross and wife Saralee of Allons, TN, and Rick Cross and wife Donna of Livingston, TN; grandchildren, Ciara Cross Cobb and husband Andy, Cody Cross and wife Jade, Cory Cross and wife Trish, Colton Cross and wife Alli, Christopher Cross and wife Krista, and Colby Cross and wife Samantha; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Cross, Sawyer Cross, Ciana Cobb, Anica Cobb, Clay Cobb, Cambrie Cross, Carter Cross, Coleman Edward Cross, Callan Cross, Canaan Cross, and Caden Cross; sister, Debbie Hargis Jones of Cookeville, TN; brothers, Tom Hargis, Bill Hargis, and Jack Hargis.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Edward Cross; sisters, Emma Jean Ogletree, Carolyn Sue Elizer, Betty Harris, and Vicki Birdwell; brothers, Earl Hargis, Ronnie "Possum" Hargis, Paul Hargis, J.B. Hargis, and Otis Hargis
Pallbearers to serve are Chris Cross, Colby, Cross, Cody Cross, Cory Cross, Colton Cross, and Andy Cobb.
