Funeral services for Mr. James Walton Hicks, age 92, of Hilham will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Bobby Gore will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors provided by the Honor Guard of the James T. Davis Memorial Post 5062 of the VFW in Livingston. The family will welcome friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 9 p.m.
Mr. Hicks passed peacefully at his home in Hilham on Saturday morning, July 22, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in Overton County, TN on January 24, 1925 to the late Elbert & Rosie Mae Pigg Hicks. Mr. James Hicks was a World War II Army veteran. He was a retired member of the James T. Davis Honor Guard. James loved being active and spending time with his Honor Guard friends. His family and friends will always remember his service to his country, his service to his family, and his enjoyment of farming and gardening.
Mr. James Walton Hicks is survived by his son, John Hicks and wife Mildred of Nashville, TN, Grandchildren Jennifer Stephens and husband Tony of Hilham, TN, and Jarman Hicks and wife Michele of Hilham, TN and Eight Great Grandchildren.
In Addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Ruth Hicks; son, James Larry Hicks; brothers, Waymon Hicks, Ernest Hicks, and Roy Hicks.
Pallbearers to serve include Tony Kennedy, Clint Kennedy, David Pigg, James Reingley, Kyle Leadbetter, and Tristan Hicks.
Honorary Pallbearers are the James T. Davis Memorial Post Members.
